Trip down memory lane…

On a rainy night in London Village I stepped back in time to no other than March 2024 and remembered fondly the last ever Mark & Lard show on Radio 1.

Having tuned in every weekday at 1pm, it was part of my daily routine and to see them both live brought a tear to my eyes – mainly because I realised it was 20 years since they exited the airwaves.

An Audience with Mark & Lard really was a heartwarming night of belly laughs and guffaws. The stories were amazing and it’s made me realise there’s a lot of material out there, or there was a lot of material out there from this pair of wallies that should really be celebrated.

Amongst other tales told around Katie Puckrick’s campfire was an untold cease and desist letter from Elvis’s estate for the completely inoffensive Don’t step on my blue suede c**k. The letter never made it to the guys until a long after he show had finished apparently but it really is an amazing letter and I’ll do it no justice trying to regurgitate it here.

I’ve scoured the web trying to resurface material and will keep this fed with links to various moments of genius as and when I find them!

Thank you Mark, Thank you Lard, for everything…
